Olive and Oil Museum

The Olive Museum of Kavala is a unique museum in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, dedicated to the history, tradition, and production of olive oil and olive-related products.

The museum covers an area of approximately three acres and functions as a modern exhibition space that combines cultural presentation with an experiential approach to rural life. Its facilities include an event hall, an open-air theatre, and a landscaped outdoor area filled with trees, creating a natural environment that enhances the visitor experience.

One of the most important features of the museum is the restored traditional olive mill, which has been fully renovated along with its original mechanical equipment. Through this installation, visitors can learn how olive oil was traditionally produced and gain insight into the importance of olive cultivation in the local economy and everyday life.

The museum spaces also evoke memories of rural activity from the 1950s, when local communities actively worked with products such as tobacco, grapes, and olives, which formed the foundation of the region’s economy at the time.

Overall, the Olive Museum serves as an important cultural landmark that highlights the long-standing relationship between olive cultivation, tradition, and the way of life in the region.
