Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum

Its mission is to promote environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and a deeper understanding of the relationship between humans and nature.
The museum hosts an impressive collection of birds, mammals, and mushrooms, featuring around 350 animal species and 250 species of fungi. A key highlight is the Mushroom Museum, the first of its kind in Greece, which is devoted entirely to the study and presentation of mushrooms and their ecological importance.

The collections are presented through detailed dioramas that recreate natural habitats with great accuracy, showing animals and fungi in the ecosystems where they naturally live and develop. The exhibits are organized thematically according to different environments, offering visitors a clear and immersive understanding of Greek wildlife and forest ecosystems.

A particularly original feature of the museum is its extensive presentation of mushrooms, which illustrates their full life cycle and highlights their essential role in maintaining ecological balance within forest environments. The high quality of the exhibits and the carefully designed exhibition spaces create an engaging experience that combines education with exploration and enjoyment.
