Art of Silk Museum

The Silk Art Museum is an experiential museum dedicated to the history and art of silk production.

It aims to present the complete process of silk-making, from the rearing of the silkworm to the final silk product, highlighting the knowledge, skill, and craftsmanship involved.

Through authentic machinery, historical objects, and audiovisual material, visitors can understand how silk is transformed from a natural resource into a high-value cultural and artistic product.

The museum is housed in an impressive neoclassical building dating back to 1866, which was carefully restored and converted into an exhibition space in 2008, while preserving its architectural identity.

Most of the exhibits originate from the equipment of the Tsakiris family, who have been involved in silk production since 1954. The museum was created to preserve and showcase this long-standing tradition and the cultural heritage associated with it.

Today, it serves as an important cultural and educational space, offering visitors insight into one of Greece’s most distinctive traditional crafts.
