Centre for the Study of Traditional Pottery
The Centre for the Study of Modern Ceramics is a museum, research, and educational institution dedicated to the study and promotion of modern and contemporary ceramic art.
It focuses on preserving ceramic traditions while also supporting contemporary artistic creation.
Founded in 1987 by Betty Psaropoulou, the Centre is part of the George Psaropoulos Family Foundation. It was established as a result of her long-term research and her extensive collection of ceramic works and archival material gathered throughout her research travels across Greece.
The Centre offers ceramic classes for both children and adults, as well as educational programmes for schools and special groups. It also organises research projects, exhibitions, festivals, and cultural events aimed at promoting ceramic art. In addition, it contributes to the dissemination of knowledge through scientific publications and children’s books.
Through its activities, collections, and educational initiatives, the Centre for the Study of Modern Ceramics serves as an important cultural hub that connects traditional ceramic heritage with contemporary artistic expression.
