Yannis Tsarouchis Foundation

The Yannis Tsarouchis Foundation was established in 1981 with the aim of preserving, protecting, and promoting the work of the renowned Greek painter Yannis Tsarouchis.

Its headquarters are located in Maroussi, at 28 Ploutarchou Street, in the same building that also houses the museum. The Foundation is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, while Yannis Tsarouchis himself served as its president until his death in 1989.

The Foundation’s main objective is to assemble and preserve as complete a collection as possible of the artist’s works, representing all periods and aspects of his artistic vision. At the same time, it is responsible for the documentation, conservation, and protection of these works according to international museological standards.

The museum and the Foundation also aim to disseminate knowledge of Yannis Tsarouchis’s work through exhibitions, collaborations with cultural institutions, loans of artworks, publications of books, and support for scholarly research on his paintings, writings, translations, and stage designs. The Foundation owns the copyright to the artist’s entire oeuvre and plays an important role in safeguarding and promoting his artistic legacy.
