Aquaworld Aquarium

Aquaworld Aquarium

The Aquaworld Aquarium & Reptile Rescue Centre is Crete’s first aquarium and one of the island’s most popular family-friendly attractions.

Located in Hersonissos, it offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover marine life from the Mediterranean as well as reptiles from different parts of the world.

Aquaworld is home to a wide variety of animals, including fish, sea creatures, turtles, lizards, snakes, and other reptiles. A defining feature of the centre is its role as a rescue and rehabilitation facility. Many of the animals have been rescued after being injured or abandoned, and they now live in a safe and caring environment where they are properly looked after.

One of the most distinctive aspects of Aquaworld is its interactive experience. Visitors are encouraged to get close to many of the animals, observe them up close, and in some cases even touch them under the supervision of experienced staff. This hands-on approach makes the visit especially engaging for children, while also offering adults a deeper understanding of the animal world.

The aquarium is also a great place for photography, allowing visitors to capture memorable moments with the animals and the unique exhibits. In addition, the staff provide educational information about the species on display, their behavior, and the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental protection.

By combining education, entertainment, and animal care, Aquaworld Aquarium & Reptile Rescue Centre plays an important role in raising environmental awareness while offering an unforgettable experience for visitors to Crete.
