Zisis Oikonomou was born in Skopelos in 1911 and spent both his childhood and the final decades of his life on the island, where he passed away in 2005.

He was a multilingual and multidimensional writer with a strong intellectual presence in literature, philosophy, and essay writing. His work is characterized by deep reflection on existential and philosophical questions, as well as a distinctive approach that blends poetry with theoretical thought.

Throughout his life, he came into contact with important figures of Greek letters and collaborated with literary magazines and newspapers. His work was recognized by the Academy of Athens, and he was also awarded the State Poetry Prize for his overall literary contribution.

Critics have noted the uniqueness of his writing, where philosophical inquiry often prevails over purely poetic form, creating a highly personal and recognizable style.
