Bee Museum of Rhodes
The Dodecanese Beekeeping – Museum of Beekeeping and Natural History of the Bee is a unique institution in Greece that combines an active honey production and packaging facility with a museum dedicated to bees and their products.
Located in modern private facilities in Rhodes, it aims to highlight the vital role of bees in ecosystems, agriculture, and human life.
The museum presents the history of beekeeping, the biology of bees, and the processes involved in producing honey and other hive products such as pollen, royal jelly, and beeswax. Special emphasis is placed on the traditional Rhodian sweet “melekouni,” as well as modern bee-based products, including cosmetics and food items derived from honey.
Through exhibits, educational material, and interactive displays, the museum offers visitors a comprehensive experience that connects beekeeping science with local tradition and contemporary production. It also functions as an educational center, raising awareness about the importance of protecting bees and highlighting their essential role in maintaining ecological balance and sustaining life on Earth.
