Archaeological Museum of Samos

The Archaeological Museum of Samos is housed in two buildings: the old “Paschaleio Archaeological Collection” (1912), a two-storey neoclassical structure, and a newer museum building inaugurated in 1987.

Together, they form a unified museum complex dedicated to showcasing the island’s rich archaeological heritage.

The old building mainly presents finds from the Heraion of Samos, including statues, pottery, and a variety of votive offerings made of bronze, ivory, wood, and other materials. These artefacts reflect the religious and artistic life of ancient Samos.

The new building houses the museum’s sculpture collection, with a particular focus on outstanding examples of Archaic sculpture. It also includes a wide range of collections such as pottery, bronze objects, ivory artefacts, wooden items, figurines (coroplastics), and other works of minor arts, offering a comprehensive overview of the island’s artistic production in antiquity.
